Vivarium Workshop

Rennes / 2012 / 150 m²

29 rue du Manoir de Servigné, ZI Route de Lorient, 35000 Rennes

First mural painted on the façade of the Vivarium studio in 2012. Shared artists' studio founded in 2006 with Richard Louvet, Damien Marchal and Jean-Benoît Lallemant.

After experimenting with this motif on canvas for several months, I had the opportunity — with the owner's consent — to take the next step: painting on a monumental ‘canvas’, which was none other than the façade of the studio. It was an ideal medium for continuing to develop and perfect these abstract forms, worked on with consistency and precision.

The numerous positive responses received following this project reinforced my motivation to repeat the experience in other locations, on new walls.

Technique

The process began with painting the entire façade white. I then drew abstract shapes across the entire surface in pencil. The final stage, which was the longest and most demanding, involved applying black paint to the drawing, a task that required patience and meticulousness to achieve the final result.
